Executive Committee of the Board of Governors

Charge

The Executive Committee of the Board of Governors shall act as a liaison between the Board of Governors and the Board of Regents, and as a steering committee for the Board of Governors. The link between Governors and the Executive Committee is maintained by class representatives, who are responsible for transmitting information from their constituents to the Executive Committee and from the Executive Committee back to the Governors.

Responsibilities include:

Developing or reviewing recommendations on all plans that require input, implementation or follow-up by Governors.

Mobilizing Governors to participate in national and local activities supporting College priorities.

Overseeing the resolutions process and carrying out specific duties as stipulated in the ACP Board of Governors Resolutions Process.

Transmitting recommendations of the Board of Governors to the Board of Regents as needed.

Planning the Board of Governors spring meeting and fall conference.

Overseeing the chapter dues process and the establishment of chapter dues rates.

Recommending two candidates, from among the third year Governors who have expressed an interest to run for nomination for Chair-elect of the Board of Governors, who, if elected by the Governance Committee, stand for election by the Board of Governors.

Overseeing and providing guidance to Local Nominating Committees on the candidate selection process for Governor-elect elections in their respective jurisdictions.

Acting as a resource in developing guidelines for election procedures for electing Governors-elect.

Composition (7)

Chair, who shall be the Chair, Board of Governors; Vice-Chair, who shall be the Chair-elect, Board of Governors; one representative elected from each of the four classes of Governors; and the Chair, Chapters Subcommittee.

Note: The Chair of the Chapters Subcommittee is appointed through the Board of Regents approved committee and council appointment process.

Terms

Chair, Chair-elect, and class representatives shall serve in those positions for one year.
