Medical Practice and Quality Committee
Charge
1) Provide recommendations to the Board of Regents regarding national, state or local public policies for improving access, payment, benefits, coding, documentation, and medical review; and 2) address issues related to the implementation of these policies in practice. Develop programs to support the quality, safety, value and affordability of patient care. Provide advice to staff on the policy direction of ACP’s interactions with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other relevant entities on these issues and advise the BOR of these perspectives.
Composition (15)
Chair, who is a Regent; Vice Chair, who is a Governor; Chair of Coding and Payment Subcommittee; ten members to include at least one Regent, at least one Governor, one Resident/Fellow member and one Early Career Physician member.
The President and Chair of the Board of Regents are ex officio, voting members.
Terms
Chair, Vice Chair, and members serve one-year terms renewable up to three times for a total of four years, unless extended by the Chair, Board of Regents. The early career physician and resident/fellow member positions are appointed according to the BOR-approved policy for council appointments.
