Workforce Pipeline Programs

When internal medicine physicians from diverse backgrounds lead inclusive teams of healthcare professionals, all patients will feel welcome. ACP has designed initiatives which advocate for upstream approaches to diversify the workforce, stimulate innovation to broaden access to perspectives in medicine, training, and healthcare administration, including roles at ACP. Your donation helps fund the following opportunities designed to achieve this goal.
Ryan Mire, MD Summer Internship Program
The Ryan Mire, MD Internship program is designed to help expand equity within US healthcare by providing undergraduate students with firsthand exposure to some of the variety of career opportunities which influence health, medicine, and public policy. The internship program provides a paid, 8-week opportunity for students completing their 3rd year of college, who have demonstrated an interest in medicine, public health, public policy, or other disciplines of healthcare administration. The program involves project assignments and health career-related activities, while students learn about the internal medicine profession through mentoring from ACP members and site visits to a wide range of healthcare settings.
