MI-ACP and SHM-MI 2026 Resident and Medical Student Day - Abstract Submission

Abstract submission is now open for both Residents and Medical Students for the MI-ACP and MI-SHM 2026 Resident and Medical Student Meeting, which will be held, Friday, May 1, at the Detroit Marriott Troy in Troy, Michigan.

Abstract submission will close on January 29, 2026 at 5:00PM.

Medical Students: You must be an ACP Medical Student Member and submitting work either done at a Michigan clinical site, or with primary mentorship from faculty within Michigan. There is no category available for individuals who have graduated from medical school but have not yet been accepted to a residency program.

You must be an ACP member to submit an abstract. Medical students must be a current member to access the Abstract Submission Page. Medical student membership is FREE. Please visit this link to join. If you need to join ACP, make sure to do so a few days before you try to access the Abstract Submission Links. It will take a few days for ACP to include you in the membership database. We are not able to extend the deadline for those who are not up to date in the membership database by the submission deadline.

Residents: You must be an ACP Resident/Fellow Member in an approved IM or Med/Peds Residency Program to submit and the work that is submitted must have been completed during residency. There is no category available for individuals who have graduated from medical school but have not yet been accepted to a residency program.

You must be an ACP member to submit an abstract. Residents must be a member and DUES must be current to access the Abstract Submission Page. If you need to join ACP, make sure to do so a few days before you try to access the Abstract Submission Links.

It will take a few days for ACP to include you in the membership database. We are not able to extend the deadline for those who are not up to date in the membership database by the submission deadline. To join ACP as a resident, please visit this link.

Please DO NOT submit an abstract unless you are able to attend the meeting. Specific presentation times will be shared once your work has been accepted but are currently planned for 10:30AM - 12:00PM for the poster session. You will be assigned to a session after your work has been accepted for presentation.

You may submit as many as four abstracts. However, only one abstract per medical student/resident has the possibility of being accepted.

If you worked on an abstract with a resident or medical student, it is important to ensure that it is only submitted once. Please clarify with the author team who will submit as the first author (which will determine whether submitted to the medical student or resident category).

After you submit your abstract, you will receive a confirmation email from ACP. If you need to revise your submission, please use the link included in the email to do so. If you do not receive an email, your submission did not go through, and you should contact info@acpmichigan.org for assistance.

In an emergency, a co-author listed on the work may present, but for a medical student submission, the presenter must also be a medical student and included in the abstract submission as a co-author.

The first author must be the individual that is logged in to submit the abstract and will present the work if accepted. If the first author is unable to present, the onsite presenting author will be the only one eligible for prizes and will be listed as the “Presenting Author” when abstracts are published with others listed as “Additional Authors”.

You may not withdraw an accepted abstract without the permission of your clerkship director/program director and the Governor of the Michigan Chapter ACP.

This timely session provides internal medicine physicians with critical updates on vaccination rates across the state, highlighting progress, disparities, and ongoing public health efforts to improve immunization coverage. Attendees will gain insights into state-level strategies aimed at increasing vaccine uptake and addressing barriers in diverse patient populations. In addition, we will explore the current work ACP is participating in at the National level regarding recent and pending legislation, regulatory updates, and the implications for clinical practice, patient access, and physician responsibilities. Attendees will leave with an up-to-date understanding of both the public health and policy contexts shaping vaccine administration in Michigan and beyond.
