Minnesota Internal Medicine:2026
Registration is now open for the Minnesota Internal Medicine:2026 conference on Friday, October 23rd, at the Hilton Hotel-Mall of America/MSP. Abstract Competition

Fall Resolution Feedback Due August 18th!
We want to hear from you regarding resolutions that will be considered at the Fall 2026 Board of Governors Meeting. Topics include electronic smoking device cessation, sanitary conditions for immigrant detainees, and licensure for internationally-trained physicians.
After considering the intent of each resolution, please provide your feedback indicating your support or opposition by completing the electronic response form by August 11th. Your input will be used as part of testimony on behalf of the chapter.
Committees
The AI Committee
The committee has been busy gathering important resources for use of AI in practice, as well as interviewing physicians in Minnesota to gain other perspectives. Look for these interviews by email from MN-ACP. Contact Michelle Herbers at Minnesota.acp@gmail.com if you would like a copy. Reach out to Ryan Jelinek ryan.jelinek@hcmed.org if you are interested in joining this committee and becoming involved in this important work.

The I.M. Retired Committee
The committee will meet on September 29th at 9am at Yum! Kitchen in St. Paul. If you are retired, preparing for retirement, or wondering how best to prepare for retirement, please consider joining us.

Member Interest in Committees
If you are interested in volunteering for an MN-ACP committees, please contact Michelle Herbers at Minnesota.acp@gmail.com and she will contact you discuss your interests and involvement. Volunteer activity hours are noted below with meetings primarily held virtually. We are especially recruiting for members in the following areas:
- Membership Committee Chair (5-10 hours/year);
- Hospitalist Committee members (1-5 hours/year);
- Health Policy Committee members (4-10 hours/year);
- Awards Committee members from NW and SW Minnesota (1-5 hours/year);
- International Medical Graduates (IMG) committee members (1-5 hours/year) and
- Health IT Committee members (1-5 hours/year).
Fellowship
Advancing Minnesota members to Fellowship (FACP)
ACP supports you professionally with advancement to Fellowship in the American College of Physicians (FACP) and support in obtaining documentation for your application. The FACP credential signifies professional credibility and helps enhance and advance your career, regardless of your career path as an internal medicine physician. Drs. Tseganesh Selameab and Katie Helgen presented information and answered questions from members on advancing to Fellowship (FACP) and how Minnesota members can assist with letters of support and tips for completing the application. ACP's Guided Fellowship Program enables recent residency graduates to achieve Fellowship (FACP) within three years with structured support, mentorship, and guidance throughout the program. Applications for the January 2027 cohort are open through December 31, 2026. To be eligible for participation, applicants must have completed residency in 2025 or 2026 and have an active ACP membership through June 30, 2027.

Dr. Tseganesh Selameab will be one of the speakers at the upcoming TedxMinneapolis event on Tuesday, August 4th. She will be speaking on Healing Power of Belonging, lessons she has learned through her years of caring for immigrant and refugee communities. We hope you will join us for what is shaping up to be a powerful evening.
Second Harvest Food Bank Volunteer Event took place July 25th in Brooklyn Park. Twelve MN-ACP members came together to feed Minnesota friends with food insecurity. In just two hours they prepared 5,580 meals! Thank you to those who were able to join us, and to the I.M. Retired Committee Co-Chairs for organizing this event. Plans for another volunteer event are underway. Stay tuned!
Community Charity Event - Dr. Mark Linzer's band The New Prescriptions will be playing at The Dakota Quinlan Room this Thursday, July 30th beginning with a jazz set at 6pm and concert at 7pm. Click here for more information or to purchase tickets. All proceeds will benefit Music Therapy at HCMC.
