California Northern Abstract Competition
The California Northern Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP) invites you to submit abstracts for the 2027 ACP CANO Poster Competition, which will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2027, at UC Davis. The poster competition is a chance for you to showcase your research and clinical work to your peers and mentors and receive feedback and recognition.
Important Dates:
Submission Portal: Open Now
Submission Deadline: October 16, 2026 10:00 PM PST
Competition: February 20, 2027. Only those who advance to round two will participate in the on-site competition in 2027.
To Submit Your Abstract, Please Follow These Steps:
- Prepare your abstract according to the guidelines and format listed on the Poster Competition Page of the ACP website.
- Submit your abstract electronically by October 16, 2026 at 10:00 PM PST. Only abstracts submitted using the online form will be considered.

Beyond the Risk Assessment: Suicide Prevention Skills for Physicians
Join the ACP Hawaii, California Southern 1 & 2, Nevada and Arizona chapters for joint a webinar September 19, 2026
This webinar will be led by two suicide prevention trainers from the Hawai'i Governor's Challenge to Prevent Suicide in Service Members, Veterans and Families Lethal Means Safety workgroup. They will teach suicide prevention microskills applicable to the clinical and community setting, including recognizing commonly overlooked cues that indicate the need to evaluate suicide risk, providing an overview of widely used screening and assessment tools, and describing practical interventions to support individuals at elevated risk for suicide, including safety planning strategies and approaches to reducing access to four important types of lethal means.

The Southern California Region III invites Residents, Fellows, Medical Students, Early Career Physicians, and Affiliates (Premedical & International participants) to submit abstracts and ePosters for the 2026 Poster Competition, part of our Annual Scientific Meeting.
Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026
Venue: Sharp Prebys Innovation & Educational Center
ePoster Sessions (tentative): 9:30–11:00 AM & 2:15–4:00 PM
Categories
- Clinical Vignettes - Rare diseases, unusual cases, or unique clinical presentations
- Research -Clinical or laboratory research, new investigations, or detailed reviews
- Quality Improvement/Innovation - Projects on patient safety, QI, or innovations in
healthcare
Eligibility
- Open to ACP members and non-members (Medical Students, Residents, Fellows, and Early Career Physicians) from Southern California Region III
- Affiliates (Premedical students & international participants) welcome – special
instructions will be shared separately - All submitting authors must register for the Annual Meeting to present and be included
in the final e-book - Non-member students, residents, and ECPs must become ACP members before the
meeting
Submission Guidelines
Deadline: Wednesday, September 16, 2026 (11:59 PM PST)
- Submit both the abstract (max 500 words) and your ePoster (48” x 36” format as
PDF file) at the time of submission - One ePoster per first author per category
- No edits permitted once submitted – faculty mentor review highly recommended
- In-Person Presentation Required: All accepted ePosters must be presented in person at
the Sharp Prebys Innovation and Education Center - If the first author cannot present, a co-author may do so. To remain award-eligible, the
substitute must be from the same training level and ACP SoCal 3 chapter as the first
author (notify the Poster Committee in advance).
