The Addis Costello Award is given by the Wisconsin Chapter of the ACP in memory of Dr. Costello, a Milwaukee physician leader who worked tirelessly to publicly define and channel collegial effort to deal with the socioeconomic concerns affecting the practice of Internal Medicine. This award is given to active internists for their diligent efforts or achievements in the socioeconomic aspects of medical practice. It recognizes clinicians rather than medical scientists.

This award, established as a nod to the tradition of volunteerism within internal medicine, recognizes the work of chapter members who are involved in volunteerism and community service activities.
