Elevate Your Expertise with the Global Physician Scholar Program

Submit Your Global Physician Scholar Program Application by June 1

ACP's Global Physician Scholar (GPS) Program provides opportunities for early and mid-career internal medicine physicians from outside the United States and Canada to participate in a four-week experience to enhance their expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, and/or management of clinical issues in Internal Medicine and the subspecialties.

Post-graduate trainees (PGY 3-5) in their final years of training before obtaining a medical license for independent practice, are also eligible for the Global Physician Scholar Program. PGY 3-5 must be in this clinical year at the time of application submission.

Program highlights:

  • Participate in a four-week experience at an academic medical institution in the United States or Canada, typically held in March, April, or May 2027
  • Engage in individual and group clinical and educational experiences (direct patient care is prohibited)
  • Implement an independent project in your home country following completion of the program to improve care delivery in your selected area of expertise
  • Receive funding to attend ACP's Internal Medicine Meeting 2027 in Los Angeles, California, including access to educational sessions, peer engagement, and formal recognition as a Global Physician Scholar
