ACP MKSAP’s New ABIM Data Download Feature

To help you become familiar with the ABIM Data Download feature and how to import your most recent ABIM assessment results, peruse the frequently asked questions below as you prepare for the feature’s launch on February 26, 2026.

What is the new collaboration between ACP and ABIM?

ACP MKSAP’s new “Data Download” feature, made possible by a collaboration with ABIM, allows ACP MKSAP® subscribers to build a personalized ACP MKSAP Learning Plan based on topics relating to their most recent ABIM assessment results. Building on the success of the IM-ITE® Feedback Feature currently available within ACP MKSAP for residents, the new ABIM Data Download feature within ACP MKSAP will be the first national Precision Education program for practicing internal medicine physicians.

Which ABIM assessment results can I import into my ACP MKSAP Learning Plan?

Your most recent results on the following ABIM assessments and exams may be downloaded into ACP MKSAP:

  • Internal Medicine Certification Examination
  • Internal Medicine Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA®)
  • Internal Medicine: Inpatient LKA®
  • Internal Medicine Traditional, 10-Year Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Examination
  • Internal Medicine: Inpatient Traditional, 10-Year MOC Exam

When will the new feature be available in ACP MKSAP?

How can I easily use the Data Download feature to create an ACP MKSAP Learning Plan based on ABIM questions that I answered incorrectly?

How will the ABIM Data Download feature benefit me with the LKA or MOC exam?

ACP MKSAP subscribers who have taken an ABIM assessment, including the Internal Medicine Certification Exam, an LKA, or a traditional 10-year Maintenance of Certification (MOC) exam can import their most recent assessment data into their ACP MKSAP account to prepare for their next assessment or the next quarter of the LKA.

I have not taken an assessment in more than 10 years. Can I still download data if that is my most recent assessment?

ABIM assessment data is available as far back as 2010.

How can the new feature enhance my clinical practice?

Practicing physicians can use ACP MKSAP’s ABIM Data Download feature to:

  • Identify learning gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Create a personalized ACP MKSAP Learning Plan that targets those gaps efficiently, using ACP MKSAP and additional ACP Learning Links that are offered by the generated Learning Plan.
  • Track progress by retesting with ACP MKSAP to measure improvement over time.

In addition, practicing physicians may further curate their ACP MKSAP Learning Plan by adding any other topics of interest to their plan, based on needs they identify during the course of their clinical practice.

How often will I be able to download ABIM data into my ACP MKSAP account?

You will be able to download data from your most recent ABIM assessment results only. When new results are released to you (after each quarter for the LKA, or after completion of your next secure longform exam) you may then download those new data. For those in the LKA, continue to download data quarterly to curate your ACP MKSAP Learning Plan based on your LKA progress.

Will topics downloaded from previous assessments still be accessible within my ACP MKSAP account?

Yes! You will continue to have access to data downloaded into your ACP MKSAP account from previous assessments. In addition, topics added to your ACP MKSAP Learning Plan will remain in your Learning Plan until you choose to remove them.
