Governor's Message
Dear Members of the ACP Vermont Chapter,
I am looking forward to the cooler weather and, of course, leaf-peeping season. This also means that our annual Vermont Chapter Scientific Meeting is just around the corner. It will be held on October 9 at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe. We have a great agenda planned, and I encourage you to register for the meeting if you have not done so yet.
I also want to highlight several upcoming Vermont ACP Chapter events, including activities organized by the Health and Public Policy Committee and the Early Career Physicians Committee. Please see the details below. I plan to attend these events and hope you will join me.
As always, I welcome your feedback, ideas, and suggestions. My goal is to make the chapter as valuable and responsive to our members as possible, and your input is an important part of that effort.

ACP Vermont DEIB Corner: Reflecting on Community Partnership

In the ACP Vermont Newsletter, we hold space in each newsletter to learn about a variety of aspects of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging which have multifaceted influences on the health and well-being of our patients, colleagues, and communities.
In this fall's newsletter, I wanted to focus on a key resource involved in community health advancement and health equity: The Vermont AHEC Network, which is a statewide network of academic and community partners that work together to “increase the supply, geographic distribution, and education of Vermont's health workforce” (Northern Vermont AHEC).
For those newer to Vermont, the Vermont AHEC Network is a helpful resource for education and improving the health workforce pipeline. Specifically, for us as physicians, AHEC offers the Vermont Academic Detailing Program, in which faculty objectively review an array of clinical topics in an evidence-based way that is free of bias in a one-hour, interactive session that is geared towards primary care providers. The session topics are broad and wide-ranging. If interested, here are the current offerings for 2026 – 2027 . AHEC also collaborates with UVM to offer Project ECHO. Lastly, for physicians, there are also opportunities (organized by AHEC) to serve as a preceptor (see their website linked below for more information).
AHEC also is involved in the administration of the Vermont Educational Loan Repayment Program for Health Care Professionals ). This is helpful for attendings, fellows, or trainees who are contemplating loan repayment options specific to Vermont.
Lastly, AHEC offers substantial resources for trainees at the undergraduate, medical school, and resident level as well, including this fall's “spotlight” series of lectures focused on primary care and rural medicine (see below) as well as the AHEC Scholars Program.

Green Mountain Medicine Podcast Announcement
Hello! We are three current 2nd year medical students at Larner College of Medicine and the hosts of the Green Mountain Medicine Podcast, where we explore all things internal medicine through conversations with physicians, researchers, educators, and other members of Vermont's medical community.
We would love to hear about your clinical practice, research, career path, or personal journey in medicine. Our goal is to highlight the wide range of work being done throughout Vermont and give the medical community an opportunity to learn from the experiences of physicians practicing in different communities and settings.
Come speak with us about your community, your practice, your research, your path in medicine, or anything in medicine that gets you excited.
Interviews are conversational and can be tailored to the topics you are most interested in discussing. No podcast experience is necessary.

Board of Governors Resolutions and Submissions
Are you concerned about a public health, policy or clinical issue? If so, consider submitting a resolution to the VT chapter council. For further information see the Chapter website or contact Elly Riser Please watch for the Spring 2027 Resolutions (to be released in early February) and provide your feedback via the comments form.
ACP Fellowship
Fellowship in the ACP is a peer-reviewed and peer-supported credential that is a public reflection of excellence within the internal medicine profession. FACP signifies an ongoing dedication to the profession of internal medicine, the patients we care for, and the communities we serve.

Governor's Advisory Council
