Governor's Welcome

Welcome to the Web site for the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Physicians. ACP is the nation's largest medical specialty organization with a membership of 161,000 internal medicine physicians and medical students.

Internists ("Doctors for Adults") provide the majority of health care to adults in America. The Louisiana Chapter of the ACP speaks for Internal Medicine in our state and reflects the interests and concerns of its internists. If you are an internist in Louisiana but are not yet an ACP member, I invite you to browse our site to learn more about the College and the Chapter activities in our area.

As Governor, I have the responsibility of representing our Chapter to the national organization, encouraging internists in our state to become members and members to advance to Fellowship, recognizing members, encouraging input and action on national and local political issues effecting the environment of internal medicine, hosting local scientific meetings and CME events, and encouraging medical student members and Associates (i.e., residents) to participate in local and national College activities.

The purpose of this site is to help keep Louisiana Internists up-to-date on developments and activities of our Chapter. Our newsletters, details about upcoming regional meetings, and information of importance to internists will be posted here along with the names and addresses of our leadership in order to promote communication.

Any suggestions you might have for the content of our Web site are encouraged. Similarly, we would like to hear any suggestions you may have for improving the Louisiana Chapter and how both the Chapter and the National ACP may serve you better. Our primary mission is "Upholding the best tradition and creating opportunities for excellence in the future of Internal Medicine." Please let us know how we can be of service.
