Candidate Statement: As a physician and practice co-owner, I have focused on improving efficiency through workflow redesign, staffing optimization, and reducing administrative burden on providers. Through ACP well-being and coaching work, I have supported physicians with quality improvement projects, career uncertainty, burnout, and other challenges. I find distress is often driven by structural inefficiencies, communication failures, and misaligned resources rather than individual resilience alone. Through our clinic experience, I hope to contribute to practical solutions. I aim to strengthen ACP engagement across Kansas to improve communication across inpatient, outpatient, specialty, and rural-urban settings, where fragmentation creates inefficiency, duplication, and patient risk. I want to highlight how ACP can enhance clinical practice, continuing medical education, and well-being, while building professional networks. If elected, I bring experience in clinical practice, practice ownership, physician coaching, and system improvement, focusing on building a connected, efficient, and sustainable healthcare environment supporting Kansas ACP physicians across all settings.

Areas of Professional Interest and Expertise: My professional interests and areas of expertise center on providing comprehensive, patient-centered care across several important and evolving areas of medicine. I am deeply interested in the role of nutrition and food choices in medicine. Dietary habits are fundamental to both the prevention and management of many medical conditions, and I value integrating practical, individualized nutritional guidance into patient care as part of a broader wellness and treatment strategy. I also have a particular interest in the treatment of women through the perimenopause and menopause transition, with a focus on supporting patients through the physical, emotional, and hormonal changes that occur during these stages of life. My goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care that helps women maintain health, function, and quality of life. Finally, I am committed to supporting the continued success of independent and private practice where strong physician-patient relationships and personalized care remain central and physicians can realize autonomy in this care delivery model. This includes fostering collaboration with larger medical systems in order to optimize patient care and focus on communication for care continuity.

Candidate Statement: ACP has remained a positive motivating force throughout my medical career journey. As a Med-Peds resident in Wichita, I relied heavily on the resources ACP provided with advocacy tools for equitable care for patients and wellness initiatives for physicians. Furthermore, I received invaluable mentorship through ACP, namely by my partner Dr. Donna Sweet, who encouraged further participation in our state chapter. If given the opportunity to serve, I hope to continue this journey by being intentional in recruitment of members from medical students to early-career physicians with a focus on retention and robust engagement. As a community, I hope we can build upon the work of my predecessors through advocacy for health of rural and disenfranchised Kansans, reduction in prior authorization burden, and building trust with our patients especially in the era of medical disinformation. Together, I hope to maintain ACP as the moral center of the practice of internal medicine.
