Obesity Management Learning Series

This interactive training supports internists in assisting patients with obesity to establish lifestyle modification goals, monitor diet, engage in physical activity, and achieve desired weight loss. After completing this module, learners will be able to:

  • Proactively address obesity while avoiding language that is disrespectful and stigmatizing.
  • Elicit an obesity-focused history as necessary to guide a treatment plan.
  • Assess patients for health risks related to obesity.
  • Provide dietary counseling to support nutritional interventions.
  • Implement behavioral counseling strategies to support physical activity and other lifestyle changes.

The learning series is complemented by patient education materials specifically designed to bolster the physician recommendations and support patient commitment and success.

This module offers both CME and MOC credit free to members and for a small fee to non-members.

The goal of the curriculum is to increase physicians’ confidence in initiating patient conversations and providing counseling on treatment options to patients with obesity.
