ACP’s 2026 Annual Meeting Convenes Leaders Shaping the Future of Internal Medicine

Keynote speaker Ashish K. Jha, MD, MPH will discuss clinical leadership and trust in the age of information chaos

PHILADELPHIA, April 9, 2026 – Internal medicine physicians from around the globe will gather this month for the American College of Physicians (ACP) 2026 Internal Medicine Meeting, a three‑day event where leaders will present new research, discuss current issues affecting the profession, and participate in exclusive educational opportunities relevant to the specialty.

From April 16–18 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, more than 5,000 clinicians, educators, and experts will gather to explore cutting‑edge research, innovations in patient care, and the policy trends redefining internal medicine. With nearly 200 scientific sessions, expert panels, and hands‑on workshops, the meeting delivers practical, high‑impact learning to help physicians enhance the care they provide.

ACP is honored to welcome Ashish K. Jha, MD, MPH, Senior Fellow at the Belfer Center at Harvard’s Kennedy School, as the Opening Ceremony speaker on Thursday, April 16. Dr. Jha’s talk, “Clinical Leadership and Trust in the Age of Information Chaos,” will draw on his global expertise in health policy, crisis leadership, and the future of public health.

This year’s meeting will again feature the scientific plenary session, New in Annals of Internal Medicine: Hear it First from the Authors, where lead investigators present late‑breaking research published that day in ACP’s flagship medical journal.

Additional highlights include:

  • Clinical Skills Center: Hands‑on learning and simulation activities focused on office‑based procedures, examination techniques, and interpretation skills.
  • Popular sessions: Clinical Pearls, Clinical Workshops, Clinical Triad, Meet the Professor, and Multiple Small Feedings of the Mind.
  • Annual Business Meeting and Town Hall: Saturday, April 18, 12:45–1:45 p.m., featuring reports from ACP’s Treasurer and EVP/CEO and recognition of incoming Officers, Regents, and Governors.
  • Doctor’s Dilemma: Up to 50 resident teams compete in a fast‑paced medical knowledge challenge, culminating in the championship round on April 18.
  • Convocation Ceremony: Thursday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m., celebrating new Fellows, recipients of Mastership, and national award recipients.
  • National Abstract Competitions: Finalists in five categories—Clinical Vignette, Basic Research, Clinical Research, Quality Improvement/Patient Safety, and High Value Care—will present onsite.

“ACP’s annual meeting provides a vital forum for refreshing our clinical skills, advancing research, and collaborating on solutions to strengthen the practice of internal medicine,” said Jason M. Goldman, MD, MACP, President of ACP. “It’s also a wonderful opportunity to connect with colleagues and share ideas to improve outcomes for our patients.”
