California Northern receives 2022 Chapter Excellence Silver Award
(September 2022) I am pleased to announce that our chapter is in receipt of the Silver Level of the 2022 Chapter Excellence Award! Only 14 chapters received the Silver Award. The award recognizes chapters that achieve excellence in chapter management. In order to achieve the Chapter Excellence Award, chapters must meet twenty Bronze criteria and seventeen Silver criteria. Criteria include such activities as undertaking efforts to increase advocacy efforts, collaborating with stakeholders to increase visibility of the ACP, holding competitions for members, providing chapter financial reports to members, having Medical Student and Resident/Fellow members on the Governor's Advisory council, retaining transitional and unpaid members, giving awards to chapter members. I would like to extend a special thanks to those chapter members who assisted us in all of these endeavors! For their hard work and dedication, we received this award.

(September 2022) I am pleased to announce that our chapter is in receipt of the Gold Level of the 2022 Chapter Excellence Award! The award recognizes truly extraordinary chapters that surpass excellence in chapter management. We are in the company of 47 other outstanding chapters. In order to achieve the Gold Level of the Chapter Excellence Award, chapters must meet twenty Bronze criteria, seventeen Silver criteria and multiple Gold level activities. Criteria include such activities as having a legislative action plan or agenda, holding a volunteerism/community service activity, holding multiple stand-alone meetings, having revenue sources outside of dues and meeting registration fees, implementing a strategic plan, implementing a formal recruitment and retention plan and measuring outcomes, conducting various activities for Medical Students, Residents and Early Career Physicians. I would like to extend a special thanks to those chapter members who assisted us in all of these endeavors! For their hard work and dedication, we received this award.

California Southern III Chapter Receives a 2021 John Tooker Evergreen Award
The John Tooker Evergreen Awards Program provides recognition and visibility to chapters that have successfully implemented programs to increase membership, improve communication, increase member involvement, enhance diversity, foster careers in internal medicine and improve management of the chapter. The California Southern III Chapter received a 2021 John Tooker Evergreen Award for their initiative, The DEI Shift podcast.
The DEI Shift podcast
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are more important than ever in the professional and daily activities of health professionals. The DEI Shift podcast grew out of the Medicine in Motion: Advancing Medicine Through Equity symposium SoCal Region 3 hosted in San Diego, CA in November 2019. The Chapter's hope was to extend the important discussions around promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine and to contribute to building a worldwide community of like-minded listeners. The Chapter leveraged strong connections to established and emerging leaders already invested in DEI principles, and utilized a servant-leadership model to assemble a diverse team of students, residents, fellows, and other attending physicians from all over the U.S. The results include reaching listeners on 6 continents, in 27 countries/territories, 700 cities, and over 5250 downloads.
