Ultrasound Course

Get hands-on, point-of-care ultrasound training while earning CME credit and MOC points. Register for one of ACP's live, two-day courses to learn valuable core skills for internists, applicable to any practice setting.

Expert Faculty, Increase Your Assessment Skills

Internationally acclaimed faculty will provide a comprehensive foundation of essential ultrasound knowledge through experiential small group learning. Course attendees will increase their clinical assessment skills through proctored hands-on ultrasound scans. Topics include pulmonary, cardiac, kidney, bladder, and more.

An online pre-learning curriculum will be provided to all registrants in order to maximize background knowledge before participating in this hands-on course.

Opportunities for Advanced Training

Attendees who complete this foundational two-day course will meet the pre-requisite training to enroll in the Point-of-Care Ultrasound: Advanced Skills for Outpatient Practice pre-course that will be offered at Internal Medicine Meeting 2020, and future courses including multi-organ POCUS practice, and ultrasound-guided procedures.

 

Course Objectives

  1. Identify indications and rationale for performing the following examinations:
    • Pulmonary ultrasound
    • Focused cardiac ultrasound
    • Kidney and bladder ultrasound
    • Evaluation of abdomen for free fluid
    • Evaluation of lower extremity for deep venous thrombosis
  2. Perform the ultrasound exams listed above
  3. Interpret normal and abnormal images for the applications listed above
  4. Interpret point-of-care ultrasound findings in clinical case scenarios
  5. Describe the principles of ultrasound operation, artifacts, and image optimization
