ACP does not support measure NQF 0240: “Stroke and Stroke Rehabilitation: Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Prophylaxis for Ischemic Stroke or Intracranial Hemorrhage” because it includes all stroke patients despite the fact that some may not be appropriate candidates for DVT prophylaxis. ACP Guidelines strongly recommend risk assessment to identify patients for whom DVT prophylaxis is indicated.
