Know Before You Go: ACP Leadership Day

Registration and Lodging

  • The Leadership Day host hotel usually sells out quickly. Be sure to book your sleeping room as soon as you know you are attending Leadership Day.
  • If the host hotel is sold out, or you would like a more affordable hotel, you can book outside the host hotel. For a list of nearby hotels, please contact ACP.
  • If you know you are attending Leadership Day, please register as soon as possible. ACP asks that you register no later than April 1 if possible. They begin booking Congressional visits around the first of April.
  • Make sure your address is current in your registration and ACP profile. All Congressional visits will be scheduled based on the address ACP has for you.

Watch your Email

Important information will be distributed to all attendees via email. Please make sure you:

  • Check your email regularly for any updates from ACP or Soapbox (the scheduling company)
  • If you are not receiving emails/registration confirmation, check your spam and add the email address to your safe list
  • Make sure your email address with ACP is correct when registering. If it is not, you will need to log in to your ACP profile to update it.
  • About a week before Leadership Day you will receive an email from Soapbox or ACP that will have a link for you to use to access your schedule using a designated code. Keep this email as you will need to refer back to it during Leadership Day.
  • This initial schedule is only tentative, and will be updated up to the day of the Congressional visits, and sometimes while you are on the Hill. Check the schedule regularly.
  • ACP will email you links to the legislative issues that will be discussed while you are on the Hill. Be sure to read these in advance and:
  • Familiarize with the local landscape of your area/state on these issues. For example, is this something you are regularly seeing, are YOUR patients being impacted by these issues, etc.
  • A story is worth more than a talking point. Congressional leaders can connect better to an issue if they hear how this is directly impacting their constituents, and they are more likely to remember a story of a patient, hospital, or clinic over a statistic. Start thinking of the stories you can share as you are reading the handouts.

West Virginia Delegation and Leader

  • West Virginia will have several attendees from our Chapter.
  • A chapter leader will be designated to be the point person for the West Virginia delegation.

  • This event is a time to meet others in the state, and we hope you will take advantage of the connections being provided. After Leadership Day
  • If you are a sponsored attendee, we ask that you submit a short write-up for our newsletter, and share photos with us.
  • Stay connected with those that attended with you.
  • Plan to attend again in the future!
