Greetings Indiana ACP friends,

I really hope that you are enjoying what is left of a wonderful summer, be it extra time at home with the kids, summer vacations, pool time or just staying indoors to get away from this heat, and binging “Blindspot” on Netflix. (Maybe that last one was too specific and gave me away). I will admit that I am somewhat of a weather-wimp, so summers can get rough. But then as always, no matter what you may be going through, with a little patience and mindfulness, this too shall pass.

Every month, and every moment, I can always find something to be grateful for. I encourage you all to stop a moment, take a breather, and remember that which you are grateful for – friends, family, health or perhaps just not catching as many red traffic lights on the way to work today.

From National Leadership Day, back in late April, to our very first Strategic planning retreat in July. We had an intimate social Meet and Greet, on May 20th in Muncie, and look forward to another great evening as we travel to Evansville, Friday August 29th. As always, we hope to see as many residents, and practicing physicians as possible, as we continue to strengthen the ACP bond, and spread the message across the state.

For those of you who cannot join us in person, please always know that the ACP website is full of resources for all of us, no matter what stage of practice, or our need may be. Today I want to highlight the “Practice and Career” tab.

The end of a season can always be the beginning of a new chapter. In August, which can usually mean new school supplies and new “first day” pictures, or dropping the older ones off at college, for the very first time or for subsequent years. No, it doesn't always get easier to say goodbye to grown kids, even if their independence is what we have trained them for. Perhaps you find yourself taking on a new hobby, on picking up an old one. In the spirit of being lifelong learners, I challenge you to try and keep a ‘beginner's mindset’ when experiencing anything new and challenging, as we continue to give grace to ourselves and others.

Be well and stay well, always,

Dee

ACP Advocacy Update 2025

Advocacy in Action

We've been busy speaking up for our patients and the practice of medicine. Recently, ACP has been working to strengthen the medication supply chain and ease ongoing drug shortages, so patients can count on the treatments they need. We've also intensified our efforts to support vaccination as a key way to protect patients and communities. And on the environmental front, ACP joined with other groups in a comment letter to the EPA opposing the rollback of carbon pollution standards for power plants, highlighting how clean air is essential to good health.
