Marco A. Lopez, MD, FACP

Marco A. Lopez, MD, FACP graduated in 1973 from the University of Panama, School of Medicine. After completing his two year required internship and one year of Internal Medicine in the Republic of Panama, he spent 18 months at Gorgas Hospital doing an AMA approved internship and a six month Pathology Residency. Afterwards, he trained at Louisiana State University in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Diseases. He came back to Panama and worked as a staff physician in Pulmonary Diseases at the Social Security Hospital and Centro Medico Paitilla. In 1985, he returned to Louisiana State University to do further training, this time in Allergy and Immunology, returning to Panama in 1987.

Dr. Lopez was appointed as professor at the University of Panama, School of Medicinein 2000. In 1989, he became a fellow of the ACP after being a member for ten years. He has been very active in the chapter serving in several ACP Committees. In 1990 Dr. Lopez was chosen as the ACP College representative to the 12 International Conference in Internal Medicine in Lima-Peru. He delivered three different topics.

During his tenure the chapter increased the amount of fellows, associates and students. Dr. Lopez probably holds the chapter record in adding nine new fellows in a single year.
