Jose A. Filos Diaz, MD, FACP graduated from the University of Chicago and came back to Panama to the Gorgas Hospital at the end of the 1950's. He trained in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. He was profesor of medicine at the University of Panama for more than 20 years and was also vice chair of pulmonary disease and allergy at the Gorgas Hospital for 20 years, then became the chair of that department for 10 years until the Gorgas Medical Hospital closed down. He is well admired by his peers as a teacher, an inspiration and role model for several generations of physicians for our Central American Chapter. Dr. Filós Diaz is a recipient of the Laureate Award.
