Ralph O. Claypoole Sr. Memorial Award for Devotion of a Career in Internal Medicine to the Care of Patients

The award is bestowed upon a FACP or MACP who is an outstanding practitioner of internal medicine whose career has been devoted to the care of patients. The practitioner must be a clinician who is highly respected by peers and colleagues for clinical skills and who has been a role model. If the awardee has not previously been elected to MACP, it will be awarded when elected.

Nominating and supporting letters should address:

  • In what way the nominee demonstrated excellence in and devotion to the clinical care of patients.
  • Whether the nominee's contributions merit local, state, national, or international recognition.
  • If applicable, how the physician serves the needs of underserved communities and underrepresented or marginalized populations.
  • How the nominee's characteristics as a role model influenced the nominator's approach to clinical care.
  • For letters of support from patients, describe how the nominee made a difference in that patient's care and what makes the nominee unique compared with other practitioners from whom the patient has received care.
