Guidelines For Use

The information below is general guidelines. Please contact the Reprint Department using the contact information below should you have additional questions or wish to order reprints.

Reprints of articles from the Annals of Internal Medicine are available in both paper and electronic formats upon publication. Reprints of articles from the Annals of Internal Medicine are for use only as standalone educational materials. The Annals of Internal Medicine does not permit the reproduction of its name, logo, or text on promotional literature. Reprints of articles from the Annals of Internal Medicine are available in bulk quantities in English and translated versions when supplied directly by the Reprint division of Annals of Internal Medicine or one its associated publishing partners. Reprints may not be further reproduced in any manner without the express permission of the American College of Physicians, (ACP).

Content

Editorial content from the Annals of Internal Medicine must be reproduced verbatim, in its entirety, with no modifications. Reprints or e-prints are not available from the Annals of Internal Medicine prior to publication. Articles published online ahead of print may be purchased as e-prints or reprints on the date they are published online, provided they meet all the criteria listed above.

Reprints of articles from the Annals of Internal Medicine may not be altered in any way. Further, we do not allow any text other than what has been published by the Annals of Internal Medicine to be printed directly onto content pages, with the exception of inventory codes.

Reprints must be a freestanding part of any information package (e.g., media kit, carrier) into which they are inserted. They may not be physically attached to anything, such as advertising inserts, or have anything attached to them, such as a product sample. Article reprints must be easily removed from any kits or informational packages in which they are used.

Policy and Procedures

Reprint holders and all materials contained therein, (cover letters and other materials printed as part of, attached to, or surrounding a reprint) are subject to the Annals of Internal Medicine approval process.

Reprints must include a front cover that has the following:

  • Name/logo of journal
  • Title of article, complete list of authors, and issue date
  • The phrase "Reprinted From" or its translation must appear at the top of the cover.

Prescribing information or disclaimers required or approved by a government regulatory body or the purchasing company's inventory numbers may be included subject to the Annals of Internal Medicine approval process. When prescribing information is required to be included, the printed product will consist of the article followed by the prescribing information.

The back cover page of all reprints will include the following statement:

Owned and Published by the American College of Physicians

Material printed in the Annals of Internal Medicine is copyrighted by the American College of Physicians. All rights reserved. No part of this reprint may be reproduced, displayed, or transmitted in any form or by any means without prior written permission from the Publisher. The PDF content of the article will not be altered.
The Web page or e-mail message must not describe or interpret the article.
The link must consist of the full citation to the article.
The name of the company sponsoring the Web site or e-mail message must be clearly displayed.
