Applications are being accepted for member physicians to volunteer for national competition for the Fall 2026 committee. Applications will be reviewed during the summer and outreach to qualified volunteers will begin then.

The American College of Physicians is seeking physician members to write and review questions for the national Doctor’s Dilemma® Competition held at the annual ACP Internal Medicine Meeting. -->

Purpose:

Committee members fostering resident education by developing and refining questions across 11 knowledge areas of internal medicine for ACP’s national Doctor’s Dilemma® Competition.

Responsibilities:

Question Writers
Each Question Writer is responsible for generating questions, and reviewing former questions for their relevancy and accuracy.

Question Reviewers
Review and refine questions developed by their teammates. 

Team Leads
Overseeing all work assigned to their team including reviewing all questions created by their team.

The committee’s work will begin in September and will be completed by December. All committee work is done virtually, therefore, strong computers skills as well as a working knowledge of Google Docs, i.e. Spreadsheets. 

Question writers, reviewers and team leaders selected for the Committee are required to attend a virtual training webinar in September.

Qualifications:

Question Writers and Reviewers:

  • Current ACP Member
  • A minimum of two years post training
  • Willingness to collaborate and communicate timely and effectively with team members and leaders
  • Ability to be concise in writing with strong grammar skills
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets and asynchronous virtual communication
  • Must be a member in good standing - Anniversary dues billing is now in effect, please be aware that your membership must be active through your time of participation in this activity

Team Leads:

  • Current FACP or MACP Member
  • Commitment to serve two years as a team leader/question writer
  • Teaching background preferred
  • Detail orientated with strong communication, precise and concise writing ability, and solid grammar and mentoring skills
  • Experience managing and mentoring others with positive coaching feedback
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets and asynchronous virtual communication
  • Must be a member in good standing - Anniversary dues billing is now in effect, please be aware that your membership must be active through your time of participation in this activity
