Dr. Scott A. Vogelgesang selected for advancement to Mastership

Dr. Vogelgesang was officially recognized with ACP Mastership during the 2021 Internal Medicine Meeting. Masterships are awarded because of “personal character, positions of honor, contributions towards furthering the purposes of the ACP, eminence in practice or in medical research, or other attainments in science or in the art of medicine." Dr. Vogelgesang is a Clinical Professor in Rheumatology at the University of Iowa. He is the Chair of the UI Hospitals & Clinics Graduate Medical Education Committee, the Director for Continuous Accreditation Initiatives, and Director of the Division of Immunology-Rheumatology and Allergy. He served as Governor of the ACP Iowa Chapter from 2015 to 2019.

Iowa Chapter receives 2020 Chapter Excellence Silver Award

We are pleased to announce that our chapter is in receipt of the Silver Level of the 2020 Chapter Excellence Award! Only 18 chapters received the Silver Award. The award recognizes chapters that achieve excellence in chapter management. In order to achieve the Chapter Excellence Award, chapters must meet twenty-one Bronze criteria and fifteen Silver criteria. Thank you to those chapter members who assisted us in all of these endeavors! For their hard work and dedication, we received this award.

Dr. Martha Carvour

Martha Carvour, MD, PhD, won an award during the 2021 National Abstract Competition. Dr. Carver received an award in the Early Career Physician virtual presentation category for her presentation, "Optimizing Communication in Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy Amid the COVID Pandemic (Communication, Hospital Medicine)." Dr. Carvour is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine-Infectious Diseases at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and a researcher at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Research Center.
