Candidate Statement:
If elected governor, I intend to take the lamp that guides ACP. I intend to strengthen the idea of the generalist working in the primary healthcare with health promotion, subject that I have been studying at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo, where I teach. Integrated with primary, secondary and tertiary levels, the internist/hospitalist must have a central role in care. This can be done in public and private service. For this, a solid formation must be the rule. A good approach to the patient reduces the number of ordered exams, a subject that I develop at the hospital. ACP Brazil should integrate the whole country and attract more students and residents, and in this regard, I will follow the former governors. I dream that we can see that the patient is much more than the sum of his organs.

Candidate Statement:
Since I joined ACP, I worked closely with our Governor José Bonamigo focused on expanding ACP Brazil Chapter visibility during Covid19 pandemic and in other places outside São Paulo (e.g Rio de Janeiro) promoting the chapter among physicians and medical students. I was directly involved with ACP in 2020 as Capstone Proposal Reviewer for the ACP Leadership Academy’s Certificate in Physician Leadership Program reviewing international submitted projects.
My work as researcher and professor at MedPUC Rio de Janeiro and my previous work as MD, epidemiologist, researcher developing and implementing strategic studies/plans/projects on Latin America Health sector could largely contribute to ACP Chapter Brazil expansion and provide continuity on the previous work developed by our governor Dr. José Bonamigo.
It will be an honor and a privilege to be elected as Governor to promote Internal Medicine and the American College of Physicians even more in Brazil.
