William E. Fox, M.D., FACP, chair-elect of the American College of Physicians Board of Regents, addressed the issue of the shortage of primary care physicians in the U.S. with an article, "Why we all need to care about the primary care physician shortage" and podcast now available on the KevinMD website. Kevin Pho is an internal medicine physician and founder and editor of KevinMD, one of the web's most influential medical websites.

In his column and podcast, Dr. Fox explains why the shortage of primary care physicians in the U.S. is a problem that needs to be addressed and writes "We must do more to make sure that students and trainees see primary care as a sustainable and attractive career path. It is past time to act. The federal government and third-party payers must take bold action so that all of us will have access to the physicians we need, when we need them, for generations to come."
