Governor's Corner

As we prepare to close out another year, I hope you all had a nice holiday season and got to enjoy time with family and friends. It is also a time to reflect on the year - the ups and downs, successes and challenges, joys and sorrows. For most, it was probably a better year than the previous two! ... different for sure! I find myself wondering how we have changed as individuals over the past few years, especially around self-care. While we likely have a way to go, it seems that we can at least think about our wellbeing now and not feel guilty. That's an important step, even if it is just the first step.

I had a couple of wellbeing firsts myself this year. Kathy and I visited Europe for the first time - a trip to Italy we started planning before the pandemic! It was wonderful. It was also my first full two-week vacation since residency - we really liked it! Need to take some more.

We talk about silver linings of the pandemic - positive takeaways and helpful lessons learned along the way. I hope one of the lessons learned is that we can and should practice self-care and pay attention to our wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around us. Let's hope that we take that lesson into the new year!
