Overall Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Assess their current performance
  • Evaluate the structure and process of their care and determine how they can be improved to deliver high quality care
  • Create a team and develop and implement a plan to improve patient care
  • Re-measure performance on one or more selected quality indicators (performance measures) after implementing their plan
  • Assess impact of their improvement plan on quality of care

Target Audience

Internists, subspecialists, physicians in training, and allied health professionals.

Continuing Medical Education

The American College of Physicians is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The ACP designates this PI CME activity for a maximum of 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity enables the participant to earn up to 20 Practice Assessment Activity MOC points and Patient Safety MOC credit in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and ABIM MOC points are available from June 15, 2018 to June 15, 2021.
