Meet the Council - Membership Chair

Andrea Weber, MD, MME - Chair, Membership Committee

The Membership Committee promotes and advances the continuing growth and diversity of all classes of membership of our chapter. The committee is responsible for implementing chapter recruitment and retention initiatives to improve member satisfaction, improve diversity, and ultimately increase the chapter membership. The chair works to recruit new members and retain current members. The membership committee is also instrumental in supporting advancement to Fellowship. National ACP recommends identifying an enthusiastic person to lead this committee and that certainly describes Dr. Weber.

Dr. Weber is a native of Davenport, Iowa, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut, attended medical school at the Carver College of Medicine and completed a combined Internal Medicine-Psychiatry residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics during which time she completed a master’s degree in Medical Education. After residency she served as the medical director of Chemical Dependency Services in Cedar Rapids where she was also an adult medical and behavioral health hospitalist. She has recently joined the Carver College of Medicine as a faculty member to help expand services as the assistant director of Addiction Medicine. She has been a member of ACP since 2008.

In her spare time, Dr. Weber enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog. She is an avid reader and audiobook consumer and enjoys refurbishing old furniture. She is passionate about integrated medical and psychiatric care, especially in the marginalized populations who struggle with addiction.
