From the Governor
Our country is battling the COVID pandemic. In Arizona, the numbers of cases continue to rise. There is significant paucity of testing. We have been hearing about the Personal Protective Equipment shortage and the hardships that our hospitalist-based and clinic-based colleagues have been experiencing.
This ACP Arizona March newsletter focuses on COVID-19 online resources. Many thanks to those ACP Arizona members who called or emailed their Senator to push for healthcare provisions in the federal stimulus package.
Telemedicine is now front and center–ACP has provided valuable information on Telemedicine here, and the Arizona Medical Association has partnered with CGM to provide a free Telemedicine platform to ArMA members. Click here to learn more. Please continue to write to your legislators and senators to promote equity in telemedicine and also to advocate for including residents and fellows in providing care.
You'll find Arizona stats and resource links below, but I wanted to point out an announcement by Arizona Health Department Director Dr. Cara Christ stating that ambulatory doctors should limit testing.
And finally, the Arizona Department of Health Services, together with the Governor's Office, has created a website which will triage all types of help for COVID-19. The website includes information for individual financial donations as well as a form for organizations to complete to provide business services, including assistance in manufacturing/providing PPE.
Stay well during this stressful time.
With much love and solidarity,
Priya Radhakrishnan, MD, FACP
Governor, Arizona Chapter
