Rosendo Gonzalez, MD, FACP

Rosendo Gonzalez, MD,FACP graduated from the University of Panama Medical School in 1972. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Caja de Seguro Social Hospital between 1974 and 1977. Dr. Gonzalez completed a year as "house officer" a the Gorgas Hospital (the only hospital outside of the United States to be approved by the AMA). From 1978 to 1981, Dr. Gonzalez completed another internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship in the United States both at the Universtiy of Souther California and the Lehy Clinic in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Gonzalez served as Governor of the ACP Central America Region from 1996-2000. He distinguished himself admirably during his Governorship. His region was in receipt of the Chapter Management Award twice during his term. While Governor, the region's membership grew, and many members were advanced to Fellowship. Four physicians were distinguished as Laureates and another physician was named Masters. The annual meeting became more popular in Panama City and turned out the standard of internal medicine conferences in town. Dr. Gonzalez received the Laureate Award in 2003.
