Greetings from the Governor

I'm happy to report that our chapter governance council has been organized and is up and running. An extraordinary group of colleagues have volunteered to lead the chapter. Let me introduce our council members:

Melba Feliciano, MD, FACP, FACE, Secretary
Edwin Alicea, MD, FACP, Treasurer
José Díaz Lozada, MD, FACP, Immediate Past Governor

Committee Chairs

Francis Baco, MD, FACP, FACE, Educational Activities
Esther Torres, MD, MACP, Awards & Nominations
Ivonne Jimenez, MD, FACP, Membership
Alex González, MD, Early Career Physicians

The governance and the committees have been meeting and establishing their agenda. In order to better serve our interests, an electronic survey was conducted among our members in June 2018. The ideas and opinions collected will be used in the upcoming Strategic Planning meeting, to be held Saturday, August 18, 2018.

Chapters Finances Update

The chapter's financial status is stable and solid as stated by the CPA Pedro López. All mandatory documentation was filed in a timely manner. The Puerto Rico Department of Internal Revenues awarded the not for profit exemption to the chapter. The checking account was moved to Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, in a more convenient location for the staff and treasurer.
