GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE

Dear ACP Ontario Family:

I am now well into my first year as Governor, and I am becoming more excited about the place of ACP in supporting Internists in Ontario. Already we have sponsored one wellness activity for our residents, and we will be looking for more opportunities to partner with Internists in both community and academic centres to support ACP priorities.

Your Council is being refreshed with new community representation, and we are starting to look towards programming for our 2020 Annual Meeting. Personally, I would like to see us continue to develop skills and capacity to advocate better for what is important to our membership. I would also like to see us create networks of like-minded internists in which it is safe to discuss our successes, failures, struggles, and challenges in a way that garners the right kind of support. Stay tuned! We are planning some upcoming webinars, and I would like you to be involved.

Once again, I am proud to announce that the Ontario Chapter has the annual ACP Chapter Excellence Award! It is the members whose contributions make this an outstanding chapter!

Please subscribe to our Twitter account @AcpOntario.

ACP AS ADVOCATE

Did you know that the ACP is highly involved in advocacy? Keep up to date with the ACP Advocate Newsletter.

There are many resolutions brought forth for consideration by the Board of Governors. We encourage members to visit www.acponline.org/advocacy and send me your feedback to George.Dresser@lhsc.on.ca The Canadian Governors have the opportunity to discuss and vote on resolutions and policy during annual meetings of the Board of Governors.

Visit the Advocacy in Action page for a list of resources and events to help educate and promote action by US policy makers, legislators and others on issues of importance to internists and their patients.
