Look at the publicity for our chapter's annual meeting, October 26-27.
One item may catch your eye. That's the registration fee. It's $25. That's a lot less than we've charged in the past, which was usually at least $100.
Why (and how) did we cut the registration fee?
Number One, I personally did not want the size of the registration fee to get in the way of your decision to attend our meeting.
Number Two, our meeting benefits from the contributions of many of us. Many of us contribute our time to volunteer to speak and provide continuing medical education. Methodist Health System is, aside from nominal charges, contributing the use of its ballroom as our meeting site. Thinking about the generous contributions to our meeting, why should the chapter expect you to pay a lot of money?
Number Three, our new staff at the Metro Omaha Medical Society has done yeoman work in lining up sponsors to defray the cost of food. Please meet them. Please thank them.
As your Governor, I want this to be an opportunity to provide something of value for you. For our residents and students, this is a valuable opportunity to showcase your work. For all of us who care for patients, this is a chance to learn from carefully selected teachers about carefully selected topics. It's a chance to have fun learning with Doctor's Dilemma and Thieves' Market. On top of that, it's a chance to recognize those who deserve it with awards and to involve all members in the business meeting of the chapter.
Mahliqha Qasimyar and her Program Committee have put a lot into this. Please join us at the Methodist Ballroom October 26-27.

Registration is now open for the 2018 Chapter Meeting! The meeting will be held October 26-27, 2018, at the Methodist Healthcare System Ballroom in Omaha (8511 W. Dodge Rd., Omaha NE 68114).
In addition to the networking and collegiality offered by our meeting, it is also a valuable learning opportunity. Do you have questions about perioperative medicine? Thinking about the stressors you face; would you want to attend a Leadership and Wellness panel? These are just two of the reasons to register for our upcoming Chapter Meeting.
