ACP International Meetings Update

Canadian Society of Internal Medicine/ACP Atlantic Provinces Chapter Joint Meeting
October 14-17, 2015


The Canadian Society of Internal Medicine meeting was held in conjunction with the ACP Atlantic Provinces Chapter meeting October 14-17, 2015 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Jock Murray, MD, MACP, Professor of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, served as the ACP International Ambassador at this meeting. There were over 500 attendees at the meeting. Dr. Murray gave the Governor's Lecture and spoke on the topic "Medicine as a Profession and the Concept of Professionalism: a brief history." His talk was well received.

Annual Meeting of the Peruvian Society of Internal Medicine
October 22-25, 2015


The annual meeting of the Peruvian Society of Internal Medicine was held October 22-25, 2015 in Lima, Peru. Robert J. Quinet, MD, FACP, from Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana was invited to serve as ACP International Ambassador to the meeting by Rosa Cotrina Pereyra, MD, FACP, President of the Peruvian Society of Internal Medicine. Dr. Quinet is the Director of Ochsner's Rheumatology Fellowship Program. There were around 1,200 internists from throughout Peru in attendance at the meeting.

Dr. Quinet spoke on two topics: antiphospholipid antibody syndrome treatment and prevention, and treatment of osteoarthritis. His talks were well attended. ACP also had an exhibit booth at the meeting.
