Medical Student Abstract Competitions
Information for ACP Chapter Winners
Chapter winners must post their winning abstracts in the electronic abstract system. All Chapter winners will compete in the poster competitions at Internal Medicine 2008 regardless of their presentation at the Chapter meeting. Please check with your ACP Chapter office for details concerning the meeting registration fee, travel, and housing options.
ACP will be holding a National Abstracts Competition as part of the Internal Medicine 2008 Meeting. The meeting will take place May 15 - 17, 2008, in Washington, DC.
Abstracts are divided into four categories:
- Clinical Vignette
- Basic Research
- Clinical Research
- Quality Improvement - Patient Safety
Information about the competitions was mailed to the Chairs of Medicine, Deans of Student Affairs, and the Clerkship Directors in August 2007. The deadline for entries to the 2008 Medical Student Abstract Competition was November 12, 2007.
The top ten winners will be awarded an expense-paid trip to Internal Medicine 2008 and will give oral presentations of their work. The next highest scoring 30 abstracts in each category will be invited to compete in a poster competition at the meeting.
For more information about the national competitions, contact ACP Membership Development at 800-523-1546, ext. 2666, or send an e-mail to abstracts@acponline.org.
