Can CMS make changes to the required AWV elements in the future?
CMS has the authority to add specific required elements to the initial and/or subsequent AWV service. One issue on the horizon is the pending addition of the health risk assessment element, which CMS is likely to add as early as 2012. The agency is committed to seeking comments from the public before it changes AWV required elements.
