About the Council of Student Members

In July 1998, ACP formed the Council of Student Members. The Council of Student Members was formed to address the needs of medical students and represent the interests of approximately 24,000 Medical Student Members.

Mission

To promote excellence and professionalism in medical students; thereby promoting internal medicine as a career.

Goals

  1. To establish and promote the highest clinical standards and ethical ideals among medical students;
  2. To expand Medical Student Membership in the ACP;
  3. To create educational and mentoring opportunities for medical students that are unique to internal medicine;
  4. To expand student programs and student involvement in local, regional and national ACP activities;
  5. To create strong relationships with internal medicine practitioners, academic leaders, and general medical student organizations;
  6. To obtain current demographic information on students interested in internal medicine and assess our members' needs;
  7. To promote scholarly activity among medical students using College products and the College's Web site.
