Florida Chapter Wins Permanent Injunction Against Physician Gag Law
After over a year of litigation, the Florida Chapter and its allies won a permanent injunction prohibiting the State of Florida from enforcing the 2011 law that forbade physicians from discussing a patient’s gun ownership. In finding the law unconstitutional, the U.S. District Court relied heavily on the Chapter’s argument that any such law was an unconstitutional abridgement of a physician’s First Amendment right to free speech.

Changing to 5010 version of HIPAA Transactions scheduled for 1/1/12
Florida Medicaid’s fiscal agent - the Agency for Health Care Administration Alert - All trading partners will be deactivated for HIPAA standard 4010 X12 transactions effective January 1, 2012.
Changing to the 5010 version of the HIPAA transactions is vital for Florida Medicaid providers to be able to appropriately bill the Medicaid program for services rendered to eligible recipients. Failure to prepare for this deadline will result in delayed Medicaid payments. This change applies to any provider and vendor submitting or receiving electronic files from the Florida Medicaid program and its fiscal agent. View the following document for additional information: 5010 Transition
If you have further questions regarding the 5010 transition for Florida Medicaid, enrolled members can contact HP at 1-866-586-0961
