From The Governor

Hello fellow ACP Members and a belated Happy New Year to all! It has been wonderful hearing from many of you over the winter as we continue to meet and support each other in our professional home. Reflecting on the past year, I am grateful for all of you who daily support our nation's healthcare system, whether at the bedside, in clinic, in medical education, research, leadership or providing mentorship.

Our 2023 Tri-Service Planning Committee is off to a strong start with numerous dedicated volunteers (thank you!). I am already looking forward to bringing our military chapters together again for a fantastic reunion and educational experience. Do tentatively block November 8-10, 2023, in your schedules for the Wednesday through Friday meeting taking place in Washington, DC. A big “welcome back” to Dr. John Hunninghake will be taking the lead as our Air Force Chapter Meeting Planner! Please feel free to reach out to either of us with questions.

As always, we continue to have a lot of activity going on in the Chapter! Dr. Kathryn Burtson was our Chapter lead at a fantastic in-person Ohio/Air Force meeting last October. Dr. Joshua Scott from WPAFB delivered a very well received lecture “Clinical Pearls in Rheumatology” at that meeting and several of our members participated in providing Medical Education sessions. Dr. Ryan Collier has started training through national ACP as our physician wellness champion; if you are interested in joining him as co-champion for wellness, let me know!

I remain thankful for the privilege of serving all of you as Governor of our chapter. If there is anything I can do to support you, do not hesitate to reach out. I hope to see many of you at IM week in San Diego this April and if you are there, please stop by and say hello at the Tri-Service/Ohio reception on Friday evening, 28 April. Best wishes for a wonderful spring and see you soon, whether in-person or virtually!

Sincerely,

Angelique N. Collamer, MD, FACP, Air Force ACP Governor

National Awards, Masterships and Laureates

One of the goals of the American College of Physicians is to “recognize excellence and distinguished contributions to internal medicine.” As a way of achieving this goal, the College offers 23 national awards and a number of Masterships each year.

Our chapter is full of talented individuals and as your Governor I will do my best to recognize as many of you as possible. Please contact me with your ideas and nominations for the distinctions of Master of the ACP and for Laureate awards for our chapter.

The deadline for Mastership nominees and other national awards is 1 July 2023 and nomination information can be found here.
