Alfred Stengel Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to the American College of Physicians
Established: 1947
In honor of: The late Dr. Alfred Stengel, former Regent and President of the College for two terms.
This award is bestowed for outstanding service to the American College of Physicians.
The recipient shall be a newly elected or previously elected Master of the ACP, preferably one who has served as an Officer, Regent, or Governor and who has completed official service. The selection shall be based upon unusual loyalty and exceptional contributions to the aims and purposes of the College, as well as the recipient’s outstanding influence in maintaining and advancing the best standards of medical education, medical practice, and clinical research.
Nominating and supporting letters should address:
- In what way were these contributions to the aims and purposes of the College exceptional (above and beyond the duties of the positions or offices held)?
- Over what period of time were these contributions made?
- What was the significance or impact of the nominee's contributions or activities?
