Walter J. McDonald Award for Young Physicians
Established: 2003
In honor of: Dr. Walter J. McDonald, former Governor and Regent who served as Executive Vice President of the College from 1995 to 2002.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement by a physician member who is within 16 years of graduating medical school and who is not an ACP Medical Student Member or Associate. Nominees must meet these qualifications as of June 30th of each year considered. Areas of achievement may include leadership; academics, including publishing, teaching, and mentoring; and/or volunteerism.
Nominating and supporting letters should address:
- What significant contributions has the nominee made to the areas of academics, including publishing, teaching, and mentoring; and/or volunteerism?
- Did the achievements of this nominee merit local, state, national, or international recognition?
