I wish to be elected to the Board of Governors so that I may use my experience and skills as a practicing clinician, educator, and administrator to improve patient care, physician education, and the professional satisfaction of practicing internal medicine physicians in New Jersey. I would bring expertise in physician education through my experience as a clinician teacher and as New Jersey Scientific Meeting Chair. I have developed communication and organizational skills needed to identify topics of broad interest and to recruit expert speakers. I appreciate the issues that concern our specialty, including patient access to care and medication, safe transitions of care, and physician concern with new health care organization and reimbursement models. As a Governor I would seek out our members' concerns in order to advocate on their behalf and to partner with colleagues within and outside of ACP to identify resources to improve internists' professional performance and experience.

It has been my privilege to be involved with the New Jersey Chapter of ACP. The opportunities afforded to advocate for Internal Medicine and the fundamental role of internists in providing cost-effective healthcare have served as a source of inspiration. In the rapidly changing world of healthcare today the continued reminder to maintain the doctor patient relationship as the core of interacting with patients serves as a base when challenged with the complexities of modern healthcare delivery. My experiences in providing solo primary care medicine, nocturnist supervision of medical residents, obtaining a Master's Degree in Healthcare Management and six years as New Jersey Chapter Treasurer will serve as a well-rounded base from which to guide decisions to be made as a Governor.
