ACP to Offer Health Data Exchange Integration and Quality Reporting Service

ACP Genesis Registry will help physicians meet Meaningful Use requirements and improve quality of care

Philadelphia, January 14, 2014 -- The American College of Physicians, athenahealth, Inc., and CECity are collaborating to create a health data exchange integration and quality reporting service to connect physicians with data registries and help them satisfy Meaningful Use specialized registry requirements while improving patient care.

"Participating physician practices will be able to easily transmit data from athenaClinicals, athenahealth's web-based electronic health record, at no additional cost, to ACP Genesis Registry through ImpaQt Gateway, CECity's clinical quality data gateway," said Michael S. Barr, MD, MBA, FACP, who leads ACP's Division of Medical Practice. "This will eliminate the need for duplicate data entry and custom reporting, reducing the burden on physicians."

ACP Genesis Registry will accept data from athenaClinicals initially -- and other EHRs in the future -- and provide participating practices with continuous feedback reports presented through online performance monitors. Each monitor offers practices a user-friendly view of their performance results compared to national benchmarks, benchmarks established by ACP, as well as peer comparators, and a custom analysis of their measure gaps. Linked opportunities to drive improvement and close performance gaps are available, which include population health and patient care management tools, targeted education, resources and other evidence-based interventions from CECity's society, academic, and quality improvement research partners.

Access to ACP Genesis Registry, performance monitors, improvement resources and social learning networks will be offered to participating athenahealth providers through CECity's MedConcert portal, a social cloud-based performance improvement platform.
