Honorary Fellows and Special Representatives Instructions for Convocation 2020

Convocation is a ceremony that recognizes outstanding contributors to internal medicine, held yearly at ACP’s annual meeting. New Fellows are inducted, visiting dignitaries (“Special Representatives”) from internal medicine associations abroad are introduced, and new Masterships, Honorary Fellowships, and awards are presented.

Regalia

Before the ceremony, please pick-up regalia at the Stage Party Regalia Area, in Hall A of the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA. Coat check will be provided in Hall A. Please be in the Stage Party Regalia Area in Hall A by 4:00 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served in the Stage Party Regalia Area.

Note to Special Representatives: If you are a Special Representative and also being inducted into Fellowship, please report to Stage Party Assembly. Do not line up with your Chapter.

Schedule

4:00 p.m.         Pick up regalia from Stage Party regalia in Hall A

4:30 p.m.         Stage Party Photography begins (schedule below)

5:00 p.m.         Doors open to ceremonial Hall A for guests

5:30 p.m.         Stage Party Assembly in Hall A: Please be prepared for a wait.

6:00 p.m.         Convocation Ceremony begins

During the Ceremony

The Chair of the Board of Regents will announce the name of each Honorary Fellow, who will proceed to the front of the stage to receive their certificate, then return to their seat. The Chair of the Awards Committee will also announce the name of each Special Representative, who will stand to be recognized and then retake their seat. A copy of the Convocation Program will be placed on each seat on the stage prior to the ceremony. Please be sure to turn off all electronic devices and be mindful that this event is being recorded.

Guest Seating

Please note that no reserved seating tickets are necessary for guests, as all guest seating in Hall A is open. There will be ample seating available. However, guests should arrive early to ensure good seats and should be seated before 5:50 p.m., as no one will be seated during the processional.
