Philip A. Masters, MD, FACP, is a Senior Physician Educator at the American College of Physicians and Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University Of Pennsylvania Perelman School Of Medicine. He is a former clerkship director and past president of the Clerkship Directors in Internal medicine.
Associate Editors
Jonathan S. Appelbaum, MD, FACP, is the Laurie L. Dozier, Jr., MD, Education Director and Professor of Internal Medicine at Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, Florida. He has over 30 years of experience in clinical medicine, teaching and research. His clinical interests include HIV and aging and LGBT health disparities. He presently oversees the internal medicine clerkship, the internal medicine subinternship, directs the Doctoring 2 course and precepts in the internal medicine residency clinic.
Thomas M. De Fer, MD, FACP, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Medical Education, Department of Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine. He is the director of the Internal Medicine Clerkship, the Ambulatory Care Experience for Students (ACES) Program, and the Internal Medicine Subinternship. He has received numerous local and national awards for teaching. Dr. De Fer is also the executive editor of the Washington Manual series of books. He is a former president of the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine and an active member of the American College of Physicians.
Susan Thompson Hingle, MD, MACP, is a general internist and an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She earned a bachelor's degree from Miami University and a medical degree from Rush University Medical College. She completed her internal medicine residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident of Internal Medicine.
Robert Trowbridge, MD, FACP, graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center and a fellowship in Hospital Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He is the Division Director of General Internal Medicine at Maine Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. He serves as the Director of the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship at Tufts University School of Medicine, the Director of Medical Student Education and Faculty Development within the Department of Medicine at Maine Medical Center, and the Co-Director of the Introduction to Clinical Reasoning course at Tufts University School of Medicine.
T. Robert Vu, MD, FACP, received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. He completed his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine where he is now associate professor of clinical medicine and has served as director of the Internal Medicine Clerkship and Subinternship for over 10 years. His main areas of teaching and research interests include clinical teaching, bedside physical diagnosis, faculty development in and evaluation of clinical teaching effectiveness, curriculum development and evaluation, and mindful/reflective practice.
