Ultrasound to Manage Acute Dyspnea at the Bedside

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the benefits of bedside point-of-care ultrasound vs. other imaging modalities in the acutely dyspneic patient;
  2. Explain how to apply an algorithmic approach of ultrasound lung artifacts to determine the cause of acute dyspnea; and
  3. Describe how ultrasound evaluation of cardiac, deep veins, and inferior vena cava can add to lung ultrasound in determining causes of dyspnea.

NOTE: Unfortunately, because CME for this activity is being offered through our partner, AIUM, we are not able to offer MOC points for this activity. To earn CME for this activity, you must first watch the video of the webinar, then complete the CME quiz for the activity located on the AIUM website. To do so, you will be asked to create a free account on the AIUM system.

About AIUM/ACP/SUSME Webinar Series

Quicker and safer than other diagnostic tools, ultrasound can be used to diagnose heart, lung, vascular and thyroid disease. With the expanding applications of ultrasound at the point-of-care, ACP has teamed up with the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and the Society for Ultrasound in Medical Education (SUSME) to develop Ultrasound CME educational opportunities, such as these webinars, to promote increased usage of ultrasound and provide access to quality training.
