Reports to

Board of Regents

Charge

Respond to requests from Board of Regents, committees and staff for review of programs, products and services. Advise the Board of Regents and Board of Governors on :

  • Promoting internal Medicine as a career
  • Increasing the value of ACP membership to medical students Strengthening chapter and medical school level activities
  • Aligning council activities with the Collegeís Strategic Plan

Composition (13)

Chair, who must be a member of the Council at the time of selection and who serves ex-officio on the BOR: Vice Chair, who must be a member of the Council at the time of selection and who serves ex-officio on the BOG: one Canadian liaison: 10 at-large members to be selected with consideration given to the Collegeís Diversity Policy, as well as year in medical school and type of academic program. Up to two at-large positions may be filled by student members from international chapters outside of the US and Canada. All members must be medical student members of ACP at the time of selection to the Council.

Terms

Chair & Vice-Chair shall serve one-year terms; all terms end upon graduation from medical school, not to exceed four years. Members appointed to one, two or three year terms may extend their terms by an additional year, for a maximum term of four years, for members who extend their time in medical school by one year.

Christin Giordano is a 4th year medical student in Orlando, FL. She graduated from Brown University in 2007 and chose to pursue a physician assistant degree at the University of Florida. After working at the University of Miami in the Division of Hepatology for 2 years, decided to attend the University of Central Florida for medical school. At UCF, she has served on the curriculum committee as a class representative for all 4 years. She is also a Peer Academic Coach and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. She enjoys spending time with her dog and visits Connecticut to see her mother and brother as often as she can do so.
