CANDIDATE STATEMENT: Thank you for the opportunity to be considered for Wyoming ACP Governor. I currently serve on the Wyoming WWAMI medical school admissions committee, and as ACP Governor I would work with the UW College of Health Sciences faculty to increase exposure of Wyoming medical students to internal medicine early in their careers. Also, in addition to the Wyoming ACP Chapter being active at the WMS Annual Meeting I would additionally like to have the ACP participate in the Frontiers in Wyoming Medicine meeting that is sponsored by Wyoming Medical Center at Snow King each February. I've been a speaker at the Frontiers meeting for the past two years and also generally attend the WMS meeting, and it would be good to have the ACP present at both meetings. Finally, as Wyoming ACP Governor I would like to revisit the possibility of starting an IM residency program in Wyoming.

AREAS OF PROFESSIONAL INTEREST/EXPERTISE: 1. Patient safety 2. Office practice efficiency and access 3. Redesigning healthcare delivery
CANDIDATE STATEMENT: I have been actively involved in the ACP at a state and national level since moving to Wyoming in 2002. My teaching experience at the ACP state and national meetings and membership on the AAP Section on Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, a collaboration between the AAP and the ACP, have provided valuable insight into the structure and function of the ACP. My interest and experiences in patient safety and healthcare redesign would be congruent with the direction of the ACP and potentially useful to the Board of Governors. Medical education and the practice of medicine are much different now than when I moved to Wyoming in 2002. The joy of helping patients has not changed, but the amount of bureaucratic distraction is escalating. I would welcome the possibility to represent the interests of internal medicine, both primary care and specialists alike, on the Board of Governors of the ACP.
